WINGs Display Manager - In computing, the WINGs Display Manager (WDM) is a display manager for the X window system. It uses a Window Maker-style interface to present a graphical login screen.
Entrance (display manager) - In computing, Entrance is a display manager for the X Window System designed with the Enlightenment window manager in mind. In other words, it's a program that lets you log in to a (probably Unix-based) computer.
Modal window - In user interface design, a modal window (often called modal dialog because the window is almost always used to display a dialog) is a child window created by a parent application, usually a dialog box, which has to be closed before the user can continue to operate the application. Modal windows are frequently an element of MDI applications.
Virtual window manager - A virtual window manager is a window manager that uses virtual screens, whose resolution can be higher than the resolution of one's monitor/display adaptor. This environment is very useful when one wishes to have a large number of windows open at the same time.
